Chrystal Hoyt

Chrystal Hoyt
Harbor Festivals, Inc.

Chrystal Hoyt is the membership and volunteer coordinator for Oswego Harbor Festivals, Inc. Hoyt, 29, has also worked for the Greater Oswego-Fulton Chamber of Commerce as a membership services director.

“My most signifi cant accomplishment is an ongoing effort to motivate and inspire people to give back to the community,” she said. A graduate of Wilma Boyd College in Pittsburgh, Hoyt has been a guest speaker at the Oswego County Youth Court. She was also selected from thousands of applicants to volunteer for “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.”

She was chosen for her experience with event coordinating. Hoyt does volunteer work for several community events, including the “Warm Up Oswego” Festival. She was able to utilize her professional contacts for fundraising support for the event. In addition, Hoyt has volunteered to design advertising pieces for local businesses, and works with YP Voice of Oswego. “Part of the reason why I became a member of YP Voice is to help keep young professionals in Oswego County,” Hoyt said. “Oswego County has so much to offer and I want to be a part of this process.”

She also helps mentor teens by encouraging them to take part in community service and stay out of trouble. “Working with volunteers is so rewarding. It enriches our souls and our community,” Hoyt said. “I am proud to be a part of this community and I enjoy watching it grow.”

Hoyt is also a survivor of ovarian cancer. She was diagnosed after starting her job with Harbor Festivals, Inc., and finished her treatment in March of 2007. As a cancer survivor, Hoyt advocates ovarian cancer awareness. (EA)
