Katharine Loomis

Katharine Loomis
ALS Association

Katharine Loomis is the executive director of the Upstate chapter of the ALS Association.

The ALS Association encourages scientific research to find a cure for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), otherwise known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, heightens awareness of the nature of the disease and stimulates volunteerism. She is a certified fundraising executive.

Loomis, 32, earned her Bachelor of Science degree in health science from SUNY Cortland, where she minored in management with a concentration in healthcare administration. She is vice president of YP Voice of Oswego, a member of the American Heart Association’s “Go Red for Women” luncheon planning committee, and a member of Zonta. “I consider my most significant accomplishment to be developing and implementing fundraising and marketing initiatives that have made significant impact on the lives of those served by local non-profit organizations,” she said.

She was formerly director of development at the Food Bank of CNY. There, she increased fundraising returns by 17 percent and increased the number of donors by 10 percent. As a market manager for the American Diabetes Association, she developed and implemented two new fundraising walks. “It’s very important to me to have a career with which I can make a difference and help others while still satisfying my professional ambition to succeed,” she said.

She is a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals-CNY, National Managers Association, National Committee on Planned Living, and an alumnus of Leadership Oswego County. (LS)
