Kris Smith is the director of human resources at Oswego Health.
Smith, 35, earned a Bachelor of Science degree in human resource management from SUNY Oswego. Maureen Annal of Oswego Health nominated Smith for the “Forty Under 40” award. “She truly is a leader in her field and I anticipate she will have much to contribute to the workforce for our county in the years to come,” Annal said.
Smith has been involved in human resources within the healthcare, insurance, manufacturing and nuclear industries. She is presently a member of the Workforce Development Board of Oswego County. “I feel it is an honor right now to be working with such talented, intelligent, caring individuals who come to work each day with a smile and the question, ‘What can we do today to improve Oswego Health?’” she said.
Her foremost accomplishment involves balancing her career with being the best wife and mother she can be for her family. She is married to Matt, and has a stepson, Troy, and daughter Caitlyn. “In my position, I am able to assist employees with issues or problems they many encounter,” she said. “There have been many times in my career that, once I have helped an employee, he or she will go above and beyond a simple ‘thank you’ and make a phone call to my superior, send a written ‘thank you’, or stop by in person to thank me.” “Positive outcomes drive me to excel,” she said. “I enjoy helping employees with issues or problems to help produce positive outcomes.” (LS)
