Harbor Festivals, Inc.

Samantha Pickreign is a marketing and communications manager for Harbor Festivals, Inc.

She graduated from SUNY Oswego in 1998 with a degree in English literature, and has been recognized in the “Who’s Who in America, Executive and Professionals.” Pickreign has provided community service by working on the board of directors for Friends of Camp Hollis, and the “Warm Up Oswego” festival committee.

In addition to various other community service organizations, Pickreign is a citizen-to-citizen member of the Distant Healing Network advocacy program. Through this program, she mentors a mentally challenged woman. After dropping out of high school and becoming a teen mother, Pickreign was able to finish high school, and then college. She is now 34, and a single mother of two children. “I now provide many skills and tal- ents to help various local organizations and help improve the life for everyone in our community,” she said.

While volunteering for the Red Cross, Pickreign served as a caseworker in New York City during the World Trade Center disaster. She served hundreds of clients by providing resources, referrals and support. Pickreign mentors Reiki practitioners as they develop their own skills and practices. She provides this service for free. She is also the membership services director at the Greater Oswego- Fulton Chamber of Commerce, where she provides information and resources to new and established businesses. “It’s important to enjoy what you do; my enjoyment enables me to be successful. It heightens my creativity and passion,” she said. “When creativity and skill are conjoined, the opportunities are limit- less.” (EA)
