Business Development Specialist, Vanguard Research & Title Services, Inc., Oswego
Aaron M. Thorpe is in charge of business development for Vanguard Research & Title Services, Inc. in Oswego.
Thorpe, 34, earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in history at SUNY Oswego.
Prior to his current position, he was an abstractor-researcher for 24-Hour Record Retriever & Abstract, Inc., Vanguard’s predecessor.
“I have overseen the overall growth of the company while consulting with the owner. We throw ideas at each other and if he gives the green light, I run with it,” Thorpe said.
Thorpe has been instrumental in moving the corporate office to a more strategic location and implementing a statewide department that allows the company to cover all of New York state.
Thorpe said it is the customer who drives him to excel in his field.
“I never leave at the end of the day with more sense of pride and accomplishment than when we have exceeded a customer’s expectations,” he said.
Vanguard was a recipient of the CenterState CEO Economic Champion Award in 2011 and 2012 due in large part to the opening of the Syracuse office in which Thorpe was instrumental in creating.
Thorpe is the Stone Soup Luncheon chairman for the United Way of Central New York; board member of the CNY Mortgage Bankers Association; on the membership committee for the Greater Oswego-Fulton Chamber of Commerce; member and volunteer with the Liverpool Chamber of Commerce; an Adopt-A-Highway volunteer for the New York State Department of Transportation, and a foster home “parent” for the Oswego County Humane Society.
Thorpe said his most significant accomplishment and greatest joy is being a husband and father to his family.
