Bill Wadsworth
Creator-Operator, Bistro197, Oswego

Bill Wadsworth is the creator and managing partner at Bistro197 in Oswego.

Wadsworth, 37, earned a Master of Science degree in marriage and family therapy at Capella University. He also holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from SUNY Oswego. Prior to his current position, he was the building operations manager for Lowe’s, Inc.

He considers his most significant professional accomplishment to be designing, opening and successfully operating his first profitable restaurant at age 27—Avanti Bistro.

“I strive to bring the product of culinary-inspired comfort food to Oswego, delivered in an atmosphere reminiscent of a true Parisian storefront,” he said.

What drives Wadsworth to excel in his profession is attention to details and an obsession to keep things new and different, he said. “I don’t like to do what’s already been done; I instead prefer to bring a fresh face to food and drink.

“I look at something that could be considered perfect, and I ask myself, ‘How can I make it even better?’” he said.

He has volunteered his services as a private chef for the Lions Club silent auction, and has served as volunteer assistant volleyball coach at SUNY Oswego for many years. He also volunteers his services as a food judge at many local community events and contests.

“I represent one of the several local, energetic, and enthusiastic entrepreneurs who look upon the city of Oswego and see the potential for greatness,” he said.
