Brian Katzman

Brian S. Katzman
Probation Officer/Warrant Officer, Oswego County Probation Department, Oswego Town Fire District Commissioner

Brian S. Katzman is a probation officer with the Oswego County Probation Department.

Prior to his current position, he worked as a school-based caseworker for Catholic Charities of Oswego County.

Katzman, 37, received a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology at SUNY Oswego. He also serves as fire commissioner for the Oswego Town Fire District.

“I am involved with public safety both at Oswego County Probation and with the Oswego Town Fire Department,” he said. “What I do daily helps our community remain safe and secure.”

In 2007, Katzman spearheaded a blue reflective sign project in the town of Oswego so emergency responders could locate homes at night or in poor weather. “I am driven by the need to help others and keep my community safe at all times,” he said. “It has always been important to me to be a part of my community and make a difference.”

Katzman serves as the youth adviser and committee chairman for Oswego Town Fire Department Explorer Post 34 and is also pack committee chairman for Cub Scouts Pack 885 in Oswego.

“While working as a school-based caseworker at Fitzhugh Park Elementary School in Oswego, I sat on the safety committee that assisted in the redesign of the entranceways into our elementary school,” he said. “This redesign allowed for a single point of entry into our buildings, keeping our children safe by controlling who enters the schools during school time.”

“My most significant personal accomplishments include having a wonderful family with my wife Sarah, son Jason and daughter Brooke,” he said.
