Marissa Hanlon

Marissa M. Hanlon
Doctor of Physical Therapy, Gentiva Home Health

Marissa M. Hanlon is a doctor of physical therapy with Gentiva Home Health in Oswego. Prior to her current position, she worked at Rehab Resources in Fulton.

She earned her doctor of physical therapy degree at Temple University; her Bachelor of Science degree in health science and her Master of Science degree in physical therapy at Nazareth College; and became a certified strength and conditioning coach in 2003.

Hanlon said included in her most significant accomplishments is the ability to develop the correct plan of care to address patient needs.

"My most significant accomplishments are named Clare, who learned to walk up stairs so she could get into her home, and Dave, who was able to walk his daughter down the aisle at her wedding after surviving a heart attack, and countless others," she said.

"I'm motivated by making a difference in the quality of life my patients gain," she said. "Getting to be a part of the rehabilitative process of increased functional mobility brings great reward to them and myself."

Hanlon volunteers her time at the Fulton Foursquare Church, where she assists the pastor with food giveaways, elderly visits and care, serving the poor and needy, hospital visits, prayer and counsel, and bookkeeping.

She also volunteers at SUNY Upstate Medical University as a clinical instructor for doctoral candidates.

Among her personal achievements is losing 80 pounds through diet and exercise. She has also discovered her adventurous side while traveling, partaking in snorkeling, zip lining, parasailing, hang gliding, sky diving and hiking the Half Dome at Yosemite National Park.
