Melissa Fleischmann
Public Relations Manager, Rural/Metro Medical Services of Central New York

Melissa Fleischmann is the public relations manager for Rural/Metro Medical Services of Central New York.

The 39-year-old Mexico resident earned an AAS degree in liberal arts at the University of Hawaii; a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration-organization management at Le Moyne College, and did graduate studies at SUNY Empire State College. Fleischmann is a U.S. Army veteran.

She is also a graduate of the Leadership Greater Syracuse class of 2011.

Fleischmann serves as a functional public information officer for the region’s largest emergency medical services organization, covering a six-county area.

She additionally works in the field as a medic for Oswego County Ambulance Service.

Fleischmann is the chairwoman of the “My Heart, My Life” initiative for the American Heart Association as well as a CPR instructor; chairwoman, Community Wide Dialogue Duck Race to End Racism; executive committee member for the American Diabetes Association; chairwoman of the 420 Prevention Project; and has founded several local nonprofit organizations including Mexico Pop Warner.

“I work diligently to invest in positive events, so that when something happens out of my control, I can rely upon all of those good things to keep moving forward,” she said.

“Although I’ve lived and worked all over the world through my education and military service, Oswego County has always been my home,” said Fleischmann, who grew up in the Central Square area, and returned here after her military service.  “I love being actively involved in not only my work, but making a difference in my community,” she said.

She and her husband Richard have five children.
