Sara Malone

Sara Malone
Mechanical systems supervisor (engineering supervisor), Entergy-James A. FitzPatrick Nuclear Power Plant

Sara Malone works as a mechanical systems supervisor at Entergy’s James A. FitzPatrick Nuclear Power Plant in Scriba.

Malone, 26, resides in North Syracuse.

She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from L.C. Smith College of Engineering and Computer Science, Syracuse University.

She was president of Tau Beta Sigma at SU, which is a national band service sorority that focuses on providing service to university bands, community service and networking.

Prior to her current position, she was balance of plant system engineer for Entergy.

She considers being promoted from engineer to engineering supervisor after five years in the workforce as being one of her most significant accomplishments.

Recently, she revamped the engineering work management tool for her department to help better schedule and monitor work within the department.

“The nuclear industry is an exciting business with new challenges that arise every day,” she said. “I take great pride in being a part of such a complex and interesting industry.”

Malone is a member and vice chairwoman of the North American Young Generation in Nuclear.

She also participates in the Adopt-a-School initiative for the engineering department. In 2012, the initiative provided gifts to needy families at an Oswego-based school.

“Being recognized as a strong leader is significant to me,” she said. “In my professional career, my confidence and willingness to take the lead and make things happen has improved tremendously since entering the workforce.”
