What made you decide on a career in school psychology?
I did a couple of internships at different facilities. The diversity of being a school psychologist included counseling, assessment and instruction. It was more diverse than being a teacher. Each day is never the same as the day before, which is what I like."
Why did you decide to work with children?
They are a lot of fun. If you want to manifest change in your career or society, you have to work with kids."

Why do you maintain your level of civic involvement?

"I was raised that way. Both of my parents were very involved. A lot of people my age have left the city or county, but it's a great place to be. I want to make sure that services and activities are available to my children and their children to come."
Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
"I definitely will still be working with children somewhere. I have a feeling I will continue to be involved with the community. I will also be putting some time in at home as my husband and I are expecting our first child in January."
