Why do you see building a bridge between the college and the community as an important thing?
I think there's some wonderful partnerships that have and will continue to blossom that benefit both. For example, a lot of college students attend service learning activities and volunteer. They relate it to coursework and it's a positive experience. At the same time, they help the community in many ways. A public higher education facility should be serving the community."
Why do you enjoy working with students?
"I love it, they have such energy."

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
"I see myself continuing to work in higher education. My department is going to be moving to the new campus center and other departments will be re-located with us. We're going to have a stronger partnership. We're going to collaborate in a more intentional way. I will be working with students because that is what I enjoy."
